No—baptism is not what saves us. 

The Bible teaches clearly that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by any work or ritual, including baptism.

Romans 10:9 says,

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” 

Salvation is a gift from God, received by faith—not something we earn or achieve.

Ephesians 2:8–9 reminds us,

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” 

So where does baptism fit in?

Baptism doesn’t start our relationship with God—it celebrates it. It’s an outward symbol of an inward transformation. Once someone has put their trust in Jesus, baptism is a powerful next step of obedience that shows the world: “I belong to Christ.” 

While baptism is incredibly meaningful and important, it’s not the basis of our salvation—Jesus is.

We believe baptism is a beautiful and powerful step of faith, and we’re honored to walk with you and your family through it. When it comes to children, our approach is guided by both Scripture and spiritual wisdom.

Here’s what we believe:

Baptism is for those who personally choose to follow Jesus. 

The Bible teaches that baptism is a response to personal faith. In Acts 2:38, Peter says:

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” 

This means the person being baptized must first understand what it means to repent, believe in Jesus, and choose to follow Him.

We see this pattern again in Acts 8:12:

“But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” 

Faith came first, then baptism.

So, can your child be baptized?

If your child is old enough to:

• Understand the Gospel,

• Express a personal decision to follow Jesus,

• And truly grasp the meaning of baptism as a symbol of dying to sin and living for Christ…

Then yes—we would be thrilled to talk with you and your child about baptism!

However, if your child is still too young to understand these things, we encourage you to consider child dedication. Just like Jesus was presented at the temple as an infant (Luke 2:22), dedication allows parents to commit to raising their child in the Lord, with the support of the church family.

Here’s what we believe:

We honor the faith and intentions of your family and church tradition if you were baptized as an infant. That moment was likely a beautiful expression of your parents’ desire to raise you in the ways of the Lord—similar to what we call child dedication (Luke 2:22).

However, we believe that biblical baptism is a personal decision made after someone has chosen to follow Jesus for themselves.

In the New Testament, every example of baptism follows a personal profession of faith:

• Acts 2:41 – “Those who accepted his message were baptized…” 

• Acts 8:12 – “But when they believed Philip… they were baptized, both men and women.” 

• Acts 18:8 – “Many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized.”

So, should I be baptized again?

If you were baptized as an infant, but have now made a personal decision to follow Jesus, we believe yes—this is the right time to be baptized. Not to diminish what was done in your past, but to fulfill what Scripture teaches about believer’s baptism—an outward declaration of your own inward faith.

It’s not about repeating a ritual. It’s about responding in obedience to Jesus now that you believe.

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19:

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
